The Open Door Jamaica Foundation takes a holistic approach to improve the lives of children and young adults living with physical disabilities in Jamaica. We provide a range of services and initiatives that address various aspects of their well-being. Our causes have been chosen in an effort to support the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Providing training and support to enhance employability and promote independence.
Facilitating access to necessary medical care, rehabilitation services, and assistive devices.
Advocating for the rights and needs of individuals with physical disabilities, and raising awareness within the community to reduce stigma and discrimination.
Supporting opportunities for social interaction, sports, and cultural activities, promoting mental and emotional well-being.
Ensuring access to quality education, including special education where necessary, and promoting a supportive learning environment.
Terri-Karelle sits down with Sarah Minkara who is the Special Advisor on International Disability Rights. She's the highest-ranking officer on the issues of disability rights in the US State Department. On her special visit to Jamaica, Terri-Karelle sat down with her to discuss how we can move the conversations, get us acting and get us not only granting accessibility but empowering people with disabilities in Jamaica and around the world.
The Open Door Jamaica Foundation is committed to enhancing the lives of children and young adults living with physical disabilities in Jamaica. Our foundation's impact is evident in the lives transformed, the barriers overcome, and the dreams realised by the children and young adults we support.
