MOBILITY FOR ALL

ODJF x Toyota Wheelchair Donation

OVERview

The Open Door Jamaica Foundation, in partnership with Toyota Jamaica, is launching a special campaign to donate five wheelchairs to needy children and young adults in Jamaica with physical disabilities. This campaign is inspired by the concept of Kaizen, which emphasizes continuous improvement and efficiency, aligning with Toyota’s core principles.

The primary objective of this campaign is to provide mobility and support to individuals in need, enhancing their quality of life. Additionally, the campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of accessibility and inclusivity in our communities.

The concept of Kaizen will guide this campaign, focusing on continuous improvement and efficiency. The idea is to make a positive change in the lives of those in need, “changing for the better” through the donation of wheelchairs.

The Open Door Jamaica Foundation is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with physical disabilities. You can donate via the website or become a doorman/volunteer. With your support, we can continue to provide mobility and support to those in need, creating a more inclusive and accessible society for all.

Take A Look: 2022 Wheelchair Donations

Have you ever stopped to consider the lived experiences of a person with disability (PWD) in Jamaica? I think many of us are so engrossed in our own pursuit of our goals, and our perceived challenges that we rarely take a moment to think about the harsh and unpleasant realities people with disabilities go through in this beautiful land we love. It is very important to acknowledge that disability is not equivalent to inability.

In 2022, I partnered with Toyota Jamaica to donate wheelchairs to children with disabilities. We journeyed to the Mustard Seed Communities in Kingston and to another recipient in St. Thomas to donate the wheelchairs.
